IP Sealing and EMI Shielding Options
Raineon circular connectors offer a range of environmental sealing and electromagnetic shielding options to meet diverse application requirements across aerospace, defense, industrial, and marine environments.
IP Sealing Ratings
- IP67 (Standard): Dust-tight and protected against temporary immersion in water up to 1 meter depth for 30 minutes. This is the standard sealing level for most MIL-DTL-38999 and MIL-DTL-26482 connectors when mated.
- IP68 (Extended): Dust-tight and protected against continuous immersion under manufacturer-specified conditions. Available with enhanced gasket designs and potted contacts for subsea and marine applications.
- IP69K (Special): Protected against high-pressure, high-temperature wash-down. Available for connectors used in food processing, pharmaceutical, and washdown-intensive industrial environments.
Sealing Technologies
- Silicone Gaskets: Standard environmental sealing with excellent temperature range (-55°C to +200°C) and UV resistance
- Fluorosilicone Gaskets: Enhanced chemical resistance for exposure to jet fuel, hydraulic fluids, and solvents
- Viton (FKM) Gaskets: Superior chemical and fuel resistance for engine bay and fuel system applications
- O-Ring Seals: Precision-machined O-ring grooves provide reliable sealing in high-pressure applications
EMI Shielding Options
- 360° Shield Termination: Full circumferential shield-to-shell bonding provides maximum EMI attenuation (greater than 60dB from 100MHz to 10GHz)
- Braid Termination Bands: Integrated bands for terminating cable shield braid directly to the connector backshell
- Conductive Gaskets: Silver-filled or nickel-filled conductive gaskets for enhanced shell-to-shell conductivity
- Filtered Connectors: Built-in EMI filter arrays (pi-filter and C-filter) for applications requiring both environmental sealing and signal filtering
