IP Ratings for Outdoor Connectors

Ingress Protection (IP) ratings define the level of protection a connector provides against solid objects and water ingress.

Common IP Ratings

• IP67: Dust-tight and protected against temporary immersion (1m for 30 minutes)
• IP68: Dust-tight and protected against continuous immersion under specified conditions
• IP69K: Protected against high-pressure, high-temperature wash-down

Selection Guidance

For most outdoor industrial applications, IP67 provides adequate protection. Marine and subsea applications typically require IP68 or higher. Consider both the mated and unmated IP ratings when evaluating connector suitability.
